I'm taking the PSAT in October. When would be the best time for me to take the SAT for the first time? I think I want to take it twice, but that depends on how well I do the first time.

If you get a high score on the PSAT and feel relatively well-prepared, you should take the SAT for the first time in January of your junior year. If you think you need more time to study based on your PSAT performance, you should take the SAT for the first time in May instead. Aim to strike a balance between getting it over early and giving yourself enough time to build up your skills. Whether you take the test for the first time in January or May, you'll have at least one more shot at a higher score before you apply to college. Here's some more information on deciding when to take the SAT.
