Is it useful or detrimental to take notes while taking practice tests? I like to take notes, especially on the reading section, so that I can go back and review what I was thinking at the time. I know that practice tests are supposed to be taken under “realistic” conditions, but I feel like this really helps me in the studying process.

As long as you don't take notes for every practice test you take, it's fine to take notes. I'd recommend taking notes if you're doing practice questions but not an entire test. For instance, if you were just doing a practice Reading section, it would be fine to take notes, but if you were trying to do an actual practice test, it would be better to stick to realistic conditions.
