3 Tips to Improve 240 Points on the SAT
If you’re like thousands of other students, you’re probably confused about SAT prep. You may be unsure about what exactly to study. You might lack the motivation or focus to spend enough time on the SAT. You might have problems finding time to fit SAT prep into your busy schedule. Here we present methods of preparation that cost less than $999.
I’ve worked with thousands of students who had these exact problems. By fixing these problems, I’ve seen the immediate results on students’ SAT scores. I know beyond a doubt what works and, more importantly, what doesn’t work. Of all my experience with the SAT, I've narrowed down success to 3 critical factors. Time and time again, students who follow these 3 tips improve their score, whereas students who ignore these tips almost never make progress.
1. Study More Hours
This might seem obvious, but let me break it down into more concrete terms. If you study less than 10 hours, there is no silver bullet that will make a dent in your SAT score. If one existed, everyone would already know about it.
On the other hand, if you can put in 40 hours or more in study time, you'll get much closer to your full scoring potential. The truth is, every hour of SAT prep will do more to get you into college than an hour doing anything else. 40 additional hours in sports practice won't improve your chances of getting into college. 40 hours of SAT prep will.
You might be thinking, "well, that's easy to say and hard to do." That's why building motivation is extremely important. On the next page, I'll talk about ways to motivate yourself to study. For now, read on.
2. Focus on Your Weaknesses
If you're like nearly all students, you don't have endless time to study. The test date is nearing, and you have to balance school, homework, and extracurriculars along with SAT prep. This means that every hour you spend on SAT prep needs to get you the biggest score improvement possible - otherwise you're just wasting your time.
Every student has unique strengths and weaknesses on SAT topics. The key to effective SAT prep is to focus on your weaknesses. If you're an expert in algebra but a beginner in geometry, doing more algebra problems isn't going to raise your score. You need to focus on geometry problems until you master them!
Unfortunately, students who study ineffectively end up wasting over 50% of their study time. This can mean a difference in your final score of over 140 points.
Now comes the important question - how do you figure out your strengths and weaknesses? On the next page, I'll give you a few strategies to do so. For now, read on to the third tip.
3. Learn from Your Mistakes
The first two rules are critical. Yet I've worked with students who dedicate a lot of time studying and focus on their weak spots, but STILL don't make an improvement. It seems like they're banging their heads against the wall in frustration. What's going on?
In almost every case, I've noticed a key failure - they're not learning from their mistakes. For every single question you get wrong, you must understand WHY you got it wrong, and HOW to avoid that mistake in the future.
When you miss a question, you miss it for a reason. You either didn’t know the material, or you made a mistake in your work, or you made a careless mistake. If you don’t figure this out, you’re going to make the same mistake, over and over and over again.

Notice again that these 3 tips aren't silver bullets that will instantly raise your score. You need to put in time and study the right materials to actually raise your score. This might be an unpleasant truth, but it's the truth. It doesn't sell many books or programs, which is why you don't hear it very often. but this is the only guaranteed way you can improve your score.
Now, go on to the next page for a step-by-step guide on how to actually put these 3 tips into practice.
