Session 1 – Strategies for the new ACT, Intro to English

In your first session, you’ll begin by going over changes in the new ACT format. We’ll break down the structure of each section of the test and address big picture strategies, from time management to taking practice tests. 

Once you’re familiar with the new format, you’ll begin to dive into PrepScholar’s ACT English section strategy, our tried-and-true method for completing the ACT English section quickly, confidently, and accurately. You’ll learn to pace yourself and work through the passages effectively. Then, you’ll learn to apply them as you review the grammar and usage topics tested in the ACT English section, including Verb Tense, Run-On Sentences, and Sentence Fragments.

Session 2 – English: Grammar and Rhetoric

In your second session, you’ll pick up where you left off on the English grammar and usage topics tested in the ACT English section. You’ll review how to identify the types of questions being asked in the section before learning strategies on Punctuation, Agreement, Pronouns, Word Choice, and Conventional Expressions.

After, you’ll zoom out to the structure and intent questions in the English section. Building on the strategies you’ve learned thus far, you’ll learn to break down and answer questions on Author Intent, Transitional Logic, Relevance, Structure, and Tone.

Session 3 – Introduction to Math, Integers and Rational Numbers

In your third session, you’ll move on to learn PrepScholar’s Top Five math strategies, the core secrets to answering any math question quickly, accurately, and confidently. These are the strategies that turn even the toughest math problems into simple step-by-step processes.

You’ll use these strategies as you learn about ACT Geometry, from Coordinate Geometry to Plane Geometry, Solid Geometry, and Trigonometry. After that, you will get an introduction to some of the biggest topics in ACT math: Algebra and Numbers, starting with Integers and Rational Numbers.

Session 4 – Algebra and Advanced Math Topics

In your fourth Classes session, you’ll pick up where you left off with Algebra and Numbers. This class covers everything from statistics and sequences to functions and systems of inequalities. And as always in PrepScholar Classes, you won’t just learn the math topics; you’ll also learn the strategies you need to apply what you learn to real test questions.

Specific topics and skills you’ll learn in this class include Probability, Sequences, Operations, Single Variable Equations, Functions, Word Problems, Inequalities, and Systems of Equations. Then, you’ll address strategies for the last 15 questions of ACT Math, the most advanced topics of the section.

Session 5 – The PrepScholar Reading Method, and Essay

In your fifth Classes session, you’ll learn PrepScholar’s proven method for cracking the Reading section, including expert strategies for pacing, breaking down passages, and answering questions quickly and accurately.

After learning the big section strategies, you’ll learn how to tackle the specific skills and topics that appear on the ACT Reading test, including Passage Overview, Key Details, Inference, Words in Context, Text Structure and Purpose, and Paired Passages questions. You’ll learn how to identify common traps that lead to wrong answers in order to answer questions efficiently.

Session 6 – Essay and Test-day Strategies

In your final Classes session, you’ll review the core strategies you’ve learned thus far for each section, as well as strategies for the week before the test and test day itself. You’ll learn how to keep practicing and stay motivated and calm leading up to the test, as well as how to stay focused, manage anxiety, and pace yourself on test day.

Near the end of the session, you will also learn about the Essay, including how to read and interpret the scenario and viewpoints quickly, create a strong thesis, develop a clear outline, and write a full, focused, and error-free essay within the time limit.

Session 7 (Optional) – Science Section

This optional session is dedicated to the Science section of the ACT. You’ll learn all about the Science section, including strategies for how to pace yourself and work through the passages as well as the specific science topics and skills you need to know for the test. 

You’ll cover the unique methods for efficiently breaking down different types of Data Representation, Research Summary, and Conflicting Viewpoints passages. These passages will challenge you to interpret trends and perform calculations to answer questions, and will cover topics such as experimental design and hypothetical changes.
